Everything is done to connect the property to the bordering coastal dune landscape. Planting seamlessly blends into the natural planting, patios are disconnected from the building and visual property line edges are eliminated.

This property is set in a culturally and historically significant landscape just behind the dunes near The Hague. The design is minimal, focusing on a strong connection with the surrounding pastures. Its spatial layout aligns with the nearby fields, and the planting draws inspiration from vegetation along local waterways.

Residential - Lisse - The Netherlands
Tucked within the urban sprawl, this green haven is composed of just a few elements: a floating wooden platform, oversized concrete forms, refined steel fencing and details, and planting with a native, rewilding character.

The town of Blaricum lies on higher sand grounds. Instead of a traditional plinth of lawns and cultivated planting, fields of native and native-inspired vegetation were draped directly around the dwelling. Combined with long lines and monolithic patios in the hardscape, the design feels immersive and visually expansive.

People often over-domesticate their gardens, trying to control them by disconnecting from the surrounding landscape. By embracing the garden as part of a larger ecosystem, we invite nature’s spontaneity and wonder. Letting go of maintenance fears and learning about the plants helps us build a relationship with the garden—and reconnect with nature.

Designed in the early days of the practice, this garden embraces the concept of a small, enclosed space, intentionally disconnected from its surroundings. A few strong, architectural gestures connect three separate outdoor areas across different levels.
